The
town of Corniglia is situated on a rocky promontori high above
the sea in the heart of Cinque Terre, encircled by terraces where,
for handreds of years, grapes and olive groves have been cultivated.
You can distinguish Corniglia from the other towns of the Cinque
Terre by its elevated position: a marine terrace 100 meters
that descends steeply to the sea.
Of
artistic interest are the churches of S.Pietro built in the
Ligurian gothic style and the others modelled after Genoan fortresses.
But the principal attraction to Corniglia and the Cinque Terre
is it’s unusual terrain and the sea atmosphere which make
it unique as well as pleasant place to visit.
